Frequently Asked Questions

A facelift and brow lift can help improve visible signs of aging in the face. A facelift reshapes and contours the facial skin to help give you a rejuvenated, fresher appearance. A brow lift corrects drooping brows and improves the horizontal lines and furrows that make a person look sad, tired, or even angry. The muscles and tissue are removed or altered to smooth the forehead, raise the eyebrows and minimize frown lines. These surgeries are done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia at the Auburn Surgery Center. During the consultation, your physician will explain the surgeries as well as possible risks and complications and take before photos for your medical record. We recommend you bring a list of any questions or concerns to your consultation.

How are facelifts and brow lifts performed?
With a facelift, incisions are made around the ears and hairline where they tend to be hidden. The skin and facial muscles are then lifted and tightened and excess skin is removed around the incisions. With a brow lift, an incision is made across the top of the forehead in the hairline, from ear-to-ear. A small strip of scalp is removed, pulling the brow back. An endoscopic brow lift is also available in which several small incisions are made in the hairline instead of one long incision. Your physician will help you decide which option is better for you.

How much does a facelift and brow lift cost?
Facelifts start at $6,000* and brow lifts start at $5,100.* These fees includes: physician fee, anesthesia fee, facility fee and 12 months of office visits.

Will my neck and/or eyelids be included in a facelift or brow lift?
No. A facelift only includes the midface and jowl area. It does not include the brow or the neck area. These are separate surgeries. The brow lift only takes care of the eyebrows. It does not include the eyelids or midface.

Who are the best candidates for a facelift or brow lift?
Women and men who: are in good health; do not smoke; and are bothered by visible signs of aging on the face.

What is the recovery period a facelift or brow lift?
The recovery time varies for each patient. However, many patients return to nonstrenuous work within 1-2 weeks. Bruising and swelling typically diminishes within a few weeks. Other individual restrictions and recovery expectations will be discussed during your consultation.

What type of scars can I expect with a facelift or brow lift?
Scars are nearly invisible as they are typically hidden in the hairline. The final appearance of the scars is determined by your body’s own wound healing capabilities.

How long do the results last? Individual results will vary but the typical results last approximately 5-7 years.
